Troy Wood joined Reuter and Corbett, LLP, in an Of Counsel role in January 2026. Mr. Wood has more than 30 years of broad legal experience, including a distinctive blend of in-depth regulatory expertise and vigorous litigation skills.
Wood earned his JD from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1995, and was admitted to the practice of law in Oregon that same year following the July exam. The first half of Troy’s legal career started with real estate and transactional work, but when his firm asked him to handle his first litigation case, he discovered that his skills and abilities were much better suited for litigation. He initially represented insurance company clients but later crossed over to
representing individuals in their consumer protection and personal injury claims.
The second half of Wood’s career has been focused on consumer protection, regulatory
licensing, and the regulatory compliance needed to maintain an individual professional license.
Troy was a distinguished staff member at the Oregon State Bar for almost 12 years, Wood
served for many years in a senior regulatory leadership role. During his tenure at the Oregon
State Bar, he investigated potential violations of the Oregon Rules of Professional Conduct,
answered ethics questions through the ethics hotline, helped craft comprehensive regulatory
schemes still in use today, and authored numerous regulations that govern the lawyer admission process and regulate the practice of law. As Regulatory Counsel, Wood oversaw the admissions and regulatory services departments, which have helped develop his nuanced understanding of how lawyers keep their licenses in good standing.
Troy joined our firm because he is committed to principled advocacy, clear communication, and serving clients with professionalism and integrity. Troy will devote a substantial portion of his practice to advising clients with legal ethics issues and defending lawyers and other
professionals whose license is at risk of discipline due to regulatory non-compliance or alleged professional misconduct. Wood will also provide broad litigation and advisory services to our clients, when needed.
When he is not working, Troy spends time with his friends or his daughter and grandson,
engaged in some sort of healthy or outdoor activity, or fixing/making improvements to his Boat, which he lives aboard year round.
